About The GEEK

My journey from geek to the master of Webjutsu!

Comic Nerd

Hey thanks again for wanting to learn more about me. This page is called “The Geek” because I am a geek, on so many levels. I collect comic books, I collect action figures/collectibles, I also like to play video games, I am into computers and I build websites.

Since I learned how to draw anatomy from reading comic books, I figured why not read them. My early comic book years were mainly reading Marvel comic books. I read books like X-Men, fantastic four, the Hulk, Conan the Barbarian, Red Sonja, The Thing, Secret Wars, Spider-man, Power Man and Iron Fist, Ghostrider, Capt. America, Iron Man (when he was an alcoholic), Daredevil, and more.

Comics helped me to recognize different styles in art and to help me to understand that no one style is the one and only style. I remember the cover of a Marvel Team Up titled “Aunt May and Franklin Richards versus Galactus”. It was a spoof comic from their “Beware it’s an assistant editor of the month” series. Now the thing about this comic was that it was really off the wall crazy and silly. The storyline was about an old granny who had powers, and she saved the day by defeating the strongest villain in the entire universe, GALACTUS. I’ll always remember the cover of that comic book because the artist made something that silly look cool. Comics books are a great way to enjoy art and science fiction simultaneously.

Action Figures & Video Games

On another note, let’s talk about action figures. Since I am a huge comic fan. I got into the habit of buying action figures. It’s a great hobby. It’s a great way to pass the time. It’s a little nerdy, but in the end I hope that I will have made a lot of money by saving the right items. Right now, my most favorite character is Superman, and I got a room filled with unopened action figures. So if any of you guys out there are thinking a lot get rid of your old action figures. Don’t hesitate to send me an e-mail. I’ll come pick up your trash.

I have been playing video games since the Atari 2600 days. Atari’s donkey Kong, Pac-Man and Pitfall was my first experience in video games. Then I became a big Nintendo freak after that. Religiously I played The Nintendo Entertainment System, the Super Nintendo, and 64, and now I have moved onto the PlayStation franchise. My most favorite games are fighting games. I’m currently playing Street fighter IV and I am loving the updated look. Games are a past time for me. So if anyone wants to challenge me in Street Fighter, name the time and the place. I’ll be there.

Computers & Learning How To Make Websites

My history of computers didn’t really start until I entered the field of graphic design. The only thing I could have said that I have done or did in the past was take a few typing classes. I used my typing skills for CSR related jobs. But I always knew that those jobs weren’t something that I always wanted to do in life. So I started to use paint. You know that crappy little program that comes in every window system. I designed my first website with it. The I.T. department got word of what I did and then offered me a job on their team. That was the beginning of my computer career.

My IT days were short-lived, and I was moved to another team that developed online learning training classes in a company called Emcor. The online learning development world was a very hectic world to jump right into. My employer gave me adobe Photoshop. Illustrator. Flash and Dreamweaver. Then basically told me,” learn how to use these.” And so I did. I’m not going to lie and say I learned those programs in a week. I won’t even say that I learned them all in a month. To be honest, I would say that it took me half a year and three projects in to it, that I finally start getting the hang of them. Graphic design is something that I feel anyone that is creative can pick up. You should strongly consider the website and graphic industry.

Well, that’s all I got to say about me being a geek. I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world.
